Out-of -the -way sightseeing place in Kyoto

1. Temple

    (1) Honen-in         No entrance charge     

                                 It is a small and quiet temple which makes you feel  Wabi Sabi.

    (2) Gio-ji          No entrance charge     3story Pagoda  View of Mt.Daimonji

                               The grove of the maple in the precincts covered to moss is full

                                of emotions.

    (3) Shinnyo-do   It became famous after announced by comercial film of a railway

                                company, so it is very croweded in autumn leaves season.

    (4) Tofuku-ji    Little knwon temple except autumn leaves season which has

                                                     many national treasure and important cultural property there.

    (5) Shisen-do( Jozan-ji )  Countrified Wabi Sabi temple  

    (6) Shoden-ji      人が来ない静かな寺 西賀茂の正伝寺(伏見城の血天井を移築)小堀遠

                               州 の庭園雲竜院駅そば 古くから写経道場 柚ごもり菓子 

    (7) Renge-do     雨の日・・蓮華寺の茶室(修学旅行お断り)

    (8) Rozan-ji      廬山寺の桔梗・・紫式部邸宅

    (9) babzeb-ji      南禅寺 塔頭たっちゅうのひとつ金地院にある遠州作の石庭

                             上のそばには山県有朋の別荘、無りん庵  智積院の長谷川等伯は必見

   (10) Shoren-in   雨の日の青蓮院 光明院の庭 スピルバーグの高桐院

 2. Shrine

    (1) Kamigamo Jinja     Baecause of far northern  locations, it is not so popular shrine.

    (2) Shimogamo Jinja   Small and quiet with national treasure and have old forestswood

                                                                produced from Heiankyo era

    (3) Yasaka Jinja         Shrine near Gion where Maiko were sometimes seen there 

    (4) Fushimi Inari  

    (5) Kitano Tenmangu You can look at beautiful  wood carving slowly and carefully

                                         in the main building.

    (6) Gokonomiya        High formality shrine though it is small. 

 

3. Garden

    (1) Daitoku-ji Koto-in   It has a tasteful garden with maple and moss only.

    (2) Daigo-ji                   It is luxurious.

    (3) Hakusasonso         There is memorial museum of Hashimoto Kansetsu there.  

    (4) Tofuku-ji Hojoteien  It is a modern temple with stone and moss.

    (5) Okouchi Sanso       There is a good bamboo tunel there, and you can feel

                                        atomosphere of Sagano.
